Raimonds Gruntins is IATA’s Director of Regional Affairs Europe. He has over 20 years of experience in commercial aviation. The first person to hold this position, he is responsible for designing and managing IATA’s advocacy, lobbying, business intelligence and communications strategies across all divisional and geographical areas in Europe. He has strong skills in organizational transformation and extensive experience in sales and marketing, ground operations, cargo, global distribution system and electronic data interchange.
Mr. Gruntins joined IATA in 2008, first as a Manager in Business Development at the association’s executive office in Geneva. In 2011 he moved to Stockholm to lead the regional office for the Nordic and Baltic countries, a role he provisionally continues to fill in addition to his pan-European brief. In 2012 and 2013, he was also Area Manager for IATA’s work in Ukraine, Georgia and Armenia.
His career has seen him engaging extensively with both industry stakeholders and governments as well as international organizations. With first-hand experience of most of Western and Eastern Europe, Raimonds understands the respective cultures and mindsets.A Latvian and Swedish national, Raimonds holds degrees in Economics, Business Administration and Public Relations from the Baltic International Academy. He speaks six European languages.
